Beginnings is my ongoing series of seldom studies (as opposed to the almost non existent sketch ;). I tend to be impatient and jump into paintings but sometimes I want to try out an image before committing to a large panel or work out an idea or color or just have fun with no pressure.

These are Beginnings, not quite ‘finished’, still raw and energetic, loose and gestural… they encapsulate a special moment in each painting, the moment right after it finds itself but before it starts the journey towards being fully realized.
